A working studio is very different from a spare room with a sign on the door. We build treatment and therapy rooms to the acoustic and hygiene specs that professional practitioners actually need, proper handwash provision, warm-dim lighting circuits, reinforced walls for shelving, and for music spaces, genuine soundproofing rather than egg-box foam.
A working therapy room or yoga studio has requirements a home office doesn't. Acoustic privacy is the big one, your clients are speaking frankly and your neighbours shouldn't be hearing it. We build treatment-room walls as a double stud with a resilient bar and 50mm mineral wool in the cavity, which gets you a 45dB wall reduction, genuinely private conversation levels.
Hygiene matters too. Handwash provision with an instant-on electric water heater is code for any working treatment space. Non-porous, cleanable surfaces on floor and lower walls in beauty and clinical uses. Extract ventilation sized for the chemicals or scented oils typical of the practice, not a token bathroom fan.
Lighting gets tuned to the modality. Massage and therapy want warm-dim fittings on a low scene. Beauty and clinical work want neutral-white high-CRI fittings so colour matching works. Yoga studios want gentle indirect ambient plus a bright task scene for teaching. We set all the scenes at commissioning so the practitioner walks in, taps the wall, and the room is right, no fiddling with dimmers between clients.
